Cleanses for Health
Its officially Spring and Spring is a great time to cleanse our bodies of toxins and parasites. If you think that does not apply to you, think again! We are exposed to toxins and parasites every day, and almost all day long.
We encounter bacteria, viruses and other microscopic critters that jump on every opportunity to take up residence in a willing host. In winter we move a lot less and so our lymphatic system is removing less toxins and waste products. We deep clean our cars, clothes, and houses all the time, however we don’t always think of deep cleaning our tissues and organs.
Getting rid of the toxins
Our bodies are equipped with some very sophisticated cleansing mechanism. However, our bodies have not always been exposed to the amount of environmental toxins and stress we are exposed to these days. Yes, stress creates toxins in our body. Just think about the amount of pollution in the air we breathe and in the water we drink. Think about the amount of herbicides and pesticides our food is exposed to. Think about the amount of chemicals that is added to the food we consume. Think about the amount of chemicals in the beauty products and body care products we use. Think about all the chemicals in household products and cleaners.
What I’m saying is, we are exposed to a lot of toxins and our organs and tissue were not designed to handle that kind of toxic load – our bodies need our help. A healthy body requires a concerted and conscious effort to eliminate toxins.
Our Elimination System is Robust
Our body’s elimination system is comprised of the bowel, the kidney and urinary tract, the liver, the lungs and the skin. When this system is overburdened, the toxins that don’t get eliminated get stored in our fat cells and kept there to prevent damage and harm. Often times, the body will hang on to this fat because it does not want to release the toxins.
We can support the elimination system in a variety of ways – from daily rituals and routines to monthly, quarterly, and annual efforts. One form of cleansing is fasting, but there are different approaches to fasting and fasting is not every one’s cup of tea and not necessarily advisable for everyone. Other ways of cleansing can include exercise, sweating, getting the lymph moving, or eliminating chemically loaded products.
