Here are a few holiday tips to help you to stick to your program while still being able to enjoy all the wonderful things the holidays have to offer.
I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes it’s not so easy to eat right for your type during the holidays. Corporate parties, family gatherings, and the avalanche of holiday cookies and other goodies can make it difficult to just say no! And when you do, there’s always one friend or relative encouraging you to “just have one” or criticizing your choice to follow your blood type diet. We get it. That’s why we’ve put together a few holiday tips to help you to stick to your program while still being able to enjoy all the wonderful things the holidays have to offer. Instead of saying, “No, thanks!” when Aunt Millie offers you some of her chocolate cream pie, tell her that you enjoyed her delicious meal so much, you simply don’t have room right now. The “Maybe Later” approach let’s her know that you appreciate her efforts without hurting feelings.
Eat a small compliant meal before a party – you’ll be less apt to fill up on avoids during the cocktail hour and eat smaller portions of beneficial foods for dinner.
Speaking of cocktail hour...if you drink alcohol practice moderation. A small glass of red wine is beneficial or neutral for all blood groups.
Offer to bring a side dish or salad – and then bring a beneficial food for you. You’ll be certain to have something that you know you can eat.
Fill half your plate with salad. Begin with greens and pile them on – there will be less room for tempting avoids.
Turn in early! Studies show that those people who sleep less over time, tend to be heavier. And it doesn’t take long to throw you off your schedule; even if you miss a few hours each night over a week, your body releases hormones that prompt eating and weight gain.
For some people, the holidays are a less-than-jolly time. Supplementing with proven blues-busting omega-3’s, flax oil, and vitamin D3 may help to improve mood. Create homemade gifts for friends and family – knit or crochet socks or lap blankets, decorate evergreen wreaths, make birdhouses, take photos and attach them to blank cards and give a set of homemade note cards – the options are endless!
