[![Mercury-thermometer](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bd/Mercury-thermometer.jpg/512px-Mercury-thermometer.jpg)](http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3AMercury-thermometer.jpg) **1:** Mercury is known to denervate nerve fibers, similar to the pathology of multiple sclerosis. In other words it makes it so the nerves do not work. 2: Mercury can leak into the blood-brain barrier and reduce nerve conduction velocity and visual evoked responses, diagnostic tests used for multiple sclerosis. 3: Mercury can inhibit the action (binding) of happy hormones, like serotonin, at the synapse (nerve to nerve connection) leading to depression. 4: Mercury can cause hearing loss. 5: Mercury can decrease norepinephrine and dopamine activity at synapses, damaging our molecules of emotion. This can make a person lack zip, enthusiasm, joy, and creativity and make him anxious, insomniac, and terribly tense. 6: Mercury can create [peripheral neuropathy](https://www.helpmychronicpain.com/peripheral-neuropathy-challenges-and-treatment/), auto-immunity and interferes with synapse transmission, decreasing infection control so the unsuspecting victim gets recurrent sinusitis, prostate or gum infections, as examples. 7: Hidden mercury toxicity can be at the root of a resistant Candida infection. Sometimes you just cannot clear Candida symptoms until you get rid of the mercury. 8: Mercury is also a major undiagnosed cause of chronic fatigue and [fibromyalgia](https://www.helpmychronicpain.com/fibromyalgia-breakthrough-treatment/). 9: Whenever we see someone resistant to all treatments, there is a high probability mercury toxicity is at the root of it. 10: Mercury toxicity can create any baffling neurologic disease as well as impair cure for any disease of other body systems. ## One of the most common symptoms we see from mercury toxicity is that of terrible body burning and baffling pain that migrates. But what neurologist looks for mercury toxicity? And you certainly will never find it by doing an MRI. Instead, folks get fictitious diagnoses like erythromelalgia, fibromyalgia, idiopathic neuropathy, neurosis, idiopathic pain syndrome, or hypochondriasis. Remember a diagnoisis does not tell you the root cause, and the root cause is always what needs to be determined for proper treatment to proceed. The concept of a fictitions diagnosis does not mean to say the symptoms someone is suffering are not real, rather that someone can be given a name for the symptoms they have and the diagnosis (giving a name to symptoms and signs) does not tell the doctor what to do to get to the root cause.  ## Many conditions have their root in heavy metal toxicity and the symptoms generated can be mistakenly called a specific diagnosis.  Also important to consider is whether or not one has a gene flaw, called a single necleotide polymorphism (gene SNP or SNP) will also give a potential for body dysfunction. For a SNP to be relevant, the [epigenetic trigger(s)](https://www.whatisepigenetics.com/what-is-epigenetics/) [what you eat, where you live, who you interact with, when you sleep,how you exercise, even aging – all of these can eventually cause chemical modifications around the genes that will turn those genes on or off over time] also have to be present to turn the gene on, or off,  and the SNP has to be in a specific area the gene for the SNP to pose a problem. Gene SNP's should not be used alone to determine treatment, rather a full review of proper testing, including testing for [immune reaction to heavy metals](https://www.cyrexlabs.com/CyrexTestsArrays/tabid/136/Default.aspx), needs to be completed and evaluated to determine a proper course of corrective or ameliorative treatment. ## Watch the following 5 minute video on how mercury can cause nerve damage.
