Are you living each day with chronic pain? Have you been told that there’s no hope for a solution and you’re “just going to have to learn to live with it?” Most people (and their doctors) don’t understand the root of chronic health problems, but Dr. Andy Barlow is here to help unravel the often mysterious causes of chronic pain.

A chronic symptom is like the check engine light flashing in your car. It alerts you to the problem but doesn’t tell you where it’s coming from. The good news is that it’s possible to untangle your web of dysfunction and find the root cause of your chronic pain. Using his 7 Keys to Health, Dr. Barlow walks you through simple and effective changes that you can start making today that will help you drastically improve the quality of your life.

Dr. Barlow is a chiropractor, functional medicine doctor, and neurological specialist who earned his diplomate and completed a fellowship through the elite Carrick Institute and has since taught hundreds of doctors from around the world this life-changing material. (I am one of the doctors privileged to have learned from Dr. Barlow and am a certified graduate of the American Functional Neurology Institute)

The Hidden Trigger of Autoimmune Disease

Posted by Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson, DC on Tue, May 14, 2019

One of the most common but least understood triggers for autoimmunity is molecular mimicry, also called cross-reactivity.

This post will serve as a basic primer on cross-reactivity so you understand how important it is.

When your immune system reacts to a hostile invader, whether it's a virus or an inflammatory food, it tags the antigen with antibodies so it can more quickly recognize it in the future.

Cross-reactivity happens when the immune system confuses tissue in the body with the tagged antigen because they are similar in structure. As a result, it attacks and destroys that tissue as well. This self-attack is called autoimmunity.

For example, if you are sensitive to gluten, your immune system has created antibodies to gluten. These antibodies tag gluten to alert the immune system to destroy it every time you eat it — even if you ingest a tiny amount. This is an inflammatory response.

Mercury Toxicity Mimics Many Diseases Including Autoimmunity (Video)

Posted by Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson, DC on Thu, Dec 12, 2013

Mercury toxicity is the great mimicker of a host of health challenges.

Here is a sample of what one should know about mercury toxicity.

1: Mercury is known to denervate nerve fibers, similar to the pathology of multiple sclerosis. In other words it makes it so the nerves do not work.

2: Mercury can leak into the blood-brain barrier and reduce nerve conduction velocity and visual evoked responses, diagnostic tests used for multiple sclerosis.

3: Mercury can inhibit the action (binding) of happy hormones, like serotonin, at the synapse (nerve to nerve connection) leading to depression.

4: Mercury can cause hearing loss.
