I wrote a [post about how toxins (xylene) weakened my immune](https://www.helpmychronicpain.com/blog/bid/59641/Untangling-Autoimmune-Illness-Mysteries-With-Proper-Testing) system so it could not get rid of warts on my foot. There are over 70,000 deadly industrial chemical toxins in our environment. These chemicals challenge and deplete the body's glutathione, which is the main chemical used to stem inflammation of our cells. Inflammation is what drives autoimmunity and Hashimoto's, Fibromyalgia, MS and other autoimmune disorders. Municipal water supplies have been found to have over 300 chemical contaminants [1] and there are thousands of other man-made chemicals in our environment and our food supply. Our bodies can be overwhelmed. Exposure to these chemicals along with a poor diet can be contributing factors that predispose people to the increasing cancer rates we see in the United States. A quick search on the internet will show you the magnitude of the connection of chemicals to cancer according to many research studies. Your body’s ability to detoxify the daily onslaught of toxins that cause cellular inflammation is exactly what stands between you and chronic degenerative diseases. That’s the bad news. The good news is that there are a few things you can do to help your body deal with these toxins. First, do what you can to avoid them in the first place, but that’s not always possible and everybody is being exposed, usually without even knowing it. If you already have these diseases, you need to work on proper detoxification in order to put the recovery odds back in your favor. Your body deals with toxins in many ways, the most common way is to bury them in your fatty tissues. This results in weight gain and this weight is next to impossible to take off, unless you first remove the toxins from your body. Your body uses fat as means of protecting you against deadly toxins; hence you gain weight as you’re exposed to more and more toxicity over time.
