New report: 9 out of 10 receipts contain toxic BPA or BPS

A new report by our partners at HealthyStuff.org out today exposes a danger at many checkout counters—toxic receipts. They found toxic bisphenol A (BPA) or its chemical cousin bisphenol S (BPS) in 93% of the receipts tested.

You’ve probably heard about BPA in hard plastic water bottles and we’ve told you about BPA in the linings of food cans. It’s been banned from some children’s products like baby bottles and sippy cups in the US.

But did you know that after touching a single receipt, these chemicals can enter your bloodstream within minutes?

The Amazing Power of Omega-3 Fatty Acids

According to a study published in Gut, researchers concluded that a high dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids may help decrease mortality in patients with colon cancer.

Previous research has demonstrated that omega-3 fatty acids suppress tumor growth and decrease angiogenesis to malignant cells. For example, two months ago I shared a new study published in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, where researchers demonstrated that docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) helps reduce renal cell carcinoma invasiveness, growth rate, and blood vessel growth when combined with the anti-cancer therapy regorafenib. In addition, in a study published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, researchers at Washington State University found a mechanism by which omega-3 fatty acids inhibit the growth and spread of prostate cancer cells.

What is NAFLD

"Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition in which excess fat is stored in your liver. This buildup of fat is not caused by heavy alcohol use. When heavy alcohol use causes fat to build up in the liver, this condition is called alcohol-associated liver disease.

Two types of NAFLD are nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). People typically develop one type of NAFLD or the other, although sometimes people with one form are later diagnosed with the other form of NAFLD.

NAFL

NAFL is a form of NAFLD in which you have fat in your liver but little or no inflammation or liver damage. NAFL typically does not progress to cause liver damage or complications. However, NAFL can cause pain from enlargement of the liver.

While Brain fog may not be a medical term, it’s something many people with chronic illness know well. This is especially true for those with autoimmune hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's.

Brain fog can mean a lack of mental clarity, poor concentration, and more. Living with brain fog is hard…it affects everything you do throughout the day, every interaction you have.

A Recent Coffee Study

For centuries, people have reached for a cup of coffee to help focus the mind, but according to a study published in 2021, a morning cup of java could have the opposite effect. [1]

Researchers recruited 32 habitual coffee drinkers and 24 non-coffee drinkers and asked them to complete questionnaires used to measure stress, anxiety, and depression. Each participant then underwent a resting-state functional MRI scan that measured connectivity in various parts of the brain.

Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism Can Cause Mental Fog

Posted by Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson, DC on Mon, Aug 02, 2021

Did you know that mental fog can be caused by Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism?

Hashimoto's can cause a wide array of symptoms affecting the entire body.

It seems impossible that one part of our body (a gland) can cause symptoms spanning from memory loss to weak muscles. The reason the thyroid gland can make our lives so miserable is that every cell in our body has a receptor site specifically for thyroid hormone.

Whether the body is making too much or too little thyroid hormone can change how these cells function leading to these symptoms:
