Thyroid problems, especially hypothyroidism can alter blood fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides. The published evidence is quite clear in documenting that the actual total cholesterol level itself is not the most important risk factor of cardiovascular disease.

Doing Nothing And Thinking It Will Not Get Worse
A common myth, perpetuated by many sources, is that your thyroid symptoms will not get worse… that you have nothing to worry about. This is just not true. Studies have shown that approximately 90% of thyroid patients in the United States are most likely to have an autoimmune condition as the cause of their thyroid condition. This ties into the immune system and an immunological piece of this puzzle, which is only one piece of the puzzle.
If you sit around and wait for this to just go away on its own, or you just think you can do nothing and it will be OK… you are falling into a trap. Avoid it at all costs. The functional abnormalities are only getting worse, and you are making your recovery harder. To make matters worse, since most thyroid disorders in the USA are autoimmune and this aspect is largely ignored, additional autoimmune attacks occur – so more of your body is destroyed over time.Topics: Hypothyroidism, Dr Karl Johnson, thyroid symptoms, thyroid treatment

Not Taking Your Health Care Into Your Own Hands
We are trained in our society to believe that doctors know best, and that when we go to a doctor we are getting the best care. It’s true; doctors are doctors because they care about people. They want to help them, you included. But doctors now function in a health care model designed to treat emergencies and simple, straight forward, conditions.

Falsely Believing That All of the "Correct" Tests Have Been Done, and That Everything on Your Lab Reports is "Normal"
This is a huge trap thyroid patients fall into that you absolutely must avoid. Where my Center is located in Southeastern Michigan, many local thyroid patients have gone to their family doctors (as well as any have second and third opinions done by specialists!). They go there, have tests done, and then come out with the same thing they had before: a report that says that the labs are "normal" and a diagnosis of depression, anxiety, or worse - just aging.

Accepting "Hypothyroidism" As The Label For All of Your Symptoms
The truth is....your body is sick. What commonly happens is that when no simple explanation can be found for your symptoms you get blood test and get labeled with hypothyroidism.
